First you will meet the legendary Joy Spence, the world's first female master blender, whose expertise has helped to shape the world-renowned Appleton Estate legacy. The greeting will be followed by a short video on the history of rum and Appleton Estate.
The next step will be to explore the estate's lush sugarcane fields. Learn how this sweet crop was transformed into rum centuries ago and enjoy a refreshing taste of pure sugarcane juice. The amazing process from sugar cane to rum has led many to refer to the cane as green gold.
The first stage of the magical transformation is the conversion of sugar cane to molasses, the foundation of Appleton Estate's exceptional rum. The molasses encapsulate the estate’s unique terroir, a distinctive combination of soil, climate, and history that you can truly appreciate during your visit.
Then, you are taken into the heart of the distillery, where copper stills heat, vaporize, and purify fermented liquid into a higher-proof spirit. Marvel at the oak barrels, where time ages, mellows, and flavours the rum

Currently, the tour welcomes visitors Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 3:30 PM to unleash their inner rum connoisseur. Check with us to know if any changes have been made to these times. While spontaneous adventurers are always welcome to the estate, groups of 15 or more are encouraged to book ahead for a truly unforgettable experience.
