Alexander’s Restaurant

Alexander’s restaurant has a quiet and intimate ambiance which makes diners forget that they’re in the heart of Kingston’s prime business district. It fits into the “home away from home” feel of the Courtleigh Hotel & Suites and in addition to serving our guests it has become a popular escape for local  business people seeking a brief respite from hectic work days.

The soft, tropical decor on the inside is replaced with an authentic tropical environment on the outside where patrons can dine on a terrace surrounded by exotic plants within a few steps of the hotel’s swimming pool. But even in the restaurant's interior, patrons are blessed with a view of the sun-bathed pool deck which can be seen through California-style shutters.

There’s also a quiet alcove accessible from the dining room for guests seeking privacy or for small groups that want their own space for a special occasion or business lunch.

Sitting in the cozy comfort of this eatery, newcomers might be totally unaware of Alexander’s grand history. The restaurant has been here for over a quarter of a century in which time it has hosted important personalities from around the world including heads of state, actors, politicians, sportspersons, famous musicians and a host of other celebrities..

But the sterling reputation does not just come from the guest list. Alexander’s has earned a variety of accolades including being nominated by the prestigious Jamaica Observer Food Awards for best service in 2002 and winning their Best Place for Lunch Award in 2003.

In 2017, four chefs from the restaurant were featured in the Jamaica Observer’s Chefs To Watch series which highlighted “chefs who are charged with introducing visitors and locals to the best culinary offerings in Jamaica.”

In 2018 the island’s leading newspaper, The Gleaner, featured “the bold Jamaican flavour at Alexander’s” while later in 2019 the same publication shined their spotlight on “sizzling burgers” from the restaurant.

To make sure that we keep evolving to better serve our guests Alexander’s is always coming up with new offerings.

Our executive chef, Frederick Gayle, has recently designed a new menu concept.

“We have signature dishes on the menu that will not change,” he said, explaining the importance of continuity and recognition of the consistently popular items. “But we will be using local ingredients and infusing them with international cuisine to create new and exciting dishes as well.”

“This aspect of the menu will be changed weekly,” he added. “Overall, the whole menu offers regular diners a mix of consistency and freshness.”

There is a lot of enthusiasm among our staff who are eager to please our guests and keep building the reputation that has been achieved over the  past 25 years.

Alexander’s looks forward to hosting you on your visit to The Courtleigh Hotel & Suites and doing our part to enhance your Jamaican experience through the cuisine we offer..
